The Brandström family
The family's vision
Öijared Säteri became a fideikomiss through marriage in the early 1800s. This meant that the old law of the estate's statutory inheritance to the eldest son only ceased after the last fideikommissary had passed away, which happened when Sten-Gustav Adelskiöld Adelstierna's widow Ulla died childless in 1985. Only then could a new family move into Öijared when Monica and Jonas Brandström bought the farm and, together with their six children, settled at Öijared Säteri. Soon there was a desire to make changes to the land and environment. Monica, an ethnologist and educator, found her Eldorado in the rich culture and history of the property, and Jonas, an active company doctor and entrepreneur, together developed Öijared into a creative and recreational meeting place. In the middle of nature - far away, but still close to the city. A world of its own.
Öijared has been carefully restored and, alongside cultural conservation, forestry and hunting are carried out. The single largest imprint in the farm archive is the creation of the Club House in 1988 and the addition of hotel and golf studio in 2014. The Brandström family continues to develop Öijared by investing in the renovation of golf courses, relaxation area and restaurant in 2019.
"On our 1740 ha of land with surrounding lakes, an open and long-term sustainable multi-purpose farm is run today. Today, Öijared binds our extended family together where everyone contributes with commitment and knowledge. Our ambition is for Öijared to give back to those who visit us as much as it has given and gives our extended family. Our vision is that Öijared, by being made more accessible, will be a meeting place with room for reflection as well as experiences, development and innovation."
